Santa Clara Dentist, Improves Smiles Using Veneers

Submitted by: Khalil Sage

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA – Dr. Khalil Saghezchi (Dr. Sage), Santa Clara dentist, uses porcelain veneers to treat minor dental imperfections or cover discoloration caused by dental injuries.

Veneers are tooth-colored shells hand-sculpted by professional, laboratory artists that the dentist attaches to the front surface of the natural tooth. They help our patients create a customized smile that matches their natural teeth. Porcelain veneers are as strong as natural teeth and will not discolor over time.

Porcelain veneers help correct many common problems, although they are not a good treatment option for teeth that are extremely crooked. Dr. Saghezchi, who offers Santa Clara cosmetic dentistry services, can use one veneer to restore a fractured or discolored tooth and multiple veneers for a bigger impact makeover.

“Straighter, whiter, more uniform teeth provide a more youthful appearance,” Dr. Saghezchi says.

We can use porcelain veneers to cover gaps and chips and to change the appearance of small, worn or irregularly-shaped teeth. Once in place, veneers function and look like natural teeth. They can last up to 20 years and are extremely resistant to staining.

Veneers can create a beautiful smile by providing a uniform color, shape and symmetry, according to Dr. Saghezchi, who is one of 300 worldwide accredited members of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, an organization focused on the art and science of cosmetic dentistry.

“Many patients want the dazzling Hollywood smile,” Dr. Saghezchi, says. “Porcelain veneers are often the best way for them to achieve the smile they dream of.”

We can often complete the procedure in two office visits- one for the diagnosis, plan and preparation and one for the placement. During the first visit, Dr. Saghezchi examines your teeth to determine if porcelain veneers are a good option for your situation. To prepare the teeth for the veneer placement, he shapes the surface to accommodate the thickness of the veneer and makes an impression of the teeth. After he gives his recommendations, you get to select the desired tooth color. Our office sends the information to a dental lab where the veneers are custom-made. It usually takes one to two weeks for us to receive the veneers from the lab.

During the second dental appointment, we clean and polish your teeth in preparation for the veneer. Special cement bonds the veneer to the tooth, and Dr. Sage (Saghezchi) uses a specialized light beam to quickly harden, or cure, the cement.
